This crowdfund has come to light because of notes from listeners for a desire to have more catbeats vinyl — in specific the first two albums on colored vinyl! However, I didn't want to have the albums' audio exactly as currently released but wanted give them new focus for something truly special. I like to keep on going forward rather than going backwards creatively. ^_^
In January I started editing down my albums to fit on 1 LP of continuous music to check the feel. I added overdubs on top of the tracks in the spirit of jazz by improving with a loose yet understated feel during late night music sessions lit by a dim moss-terrarium. Lastly, I added magical narration by the Cat Druid as heard in the video. I felt I created a pleasant differentiation for those who had the albums as well as new listeners! A nice bit of extra sonic kibble only on the vinyl format and maybe even one day live.
The focus of this crowdfund is all about the vinyl format — the ritual quality of intended listening and the pause to flip sides as a transition from day to night!
I feel something special came together and would love for it to come into your paws and in the world as a vinyl artifact. When I received the narration of the vinyl intro I got chills and even teary eyed as did people close to me when I shared the mix. I realized that as much as my cats and I create catbeats, really catbeats is about tapping into shared innocent and uncomplicated healing energies. We all start small at some point in our lives and if we step back we can see the world and life as magical and beautiful, especially if we remember our time machine we have inside!
NOTE: When you pledge for vinyl you also get the digital version. The digital version contains the ORIGINAL full length versions of the tracks. The VINYL contains edits to fit a continuous mix of ALL the tracks from both albums, with Side A featuring catbeats and Side B featuring night chill. There's also exclusive OVERDUBS, NARRATION, and A LOCKED GROOVE of cat purrs on Side A.
